Buddy lived a block away from me and during our grade school and Riverview years were best of friends. His loss that Friday night was my first experience of loss and will always be a sadness for me.

Buddy and I were becoming friendly just before he died. That day, during a break in Band/Drill Team practice, he came over to talk with me. I remember realizing how nice he was. His death was a horrible tragedy. I think of him, and will always miss him.

Buddy was a great guy. I talked with him during our senior lifesaving class (gym class) the day that he left us so suddenly - I was not in the friendliest mood that day and regretted not being nicer to him for some time after. It's always reminded me to be respectful to anyone no matter what my mood - it was a missed opportunity. His happy smile and good cheer were a bright light at Nicolet and I'll always remember him.

I can still remember the weekend of that horrible accident in which he died.

The loss of my friend, Buddy, and the knowledge of how he and the others were lost and injured, will remain with me for all of my life. We ate fortunate to have had him as a friend. We will always miss you, Buddy.
